An update on KOI in Uganda

A couple months ago, we told you about a church in Edmonton, AB, that was planning to take Kids of Integrity to Uganda. Here’s an update from Shirley B., one of the team members who helped lead the lessons for the children in Marare, Uganda.

“As previously mentioned, the Food for the Hungry staff for Marare, Uganda, requested that we teach a program that would help the children understand how God wants them to live. We focused on the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22).

Introducing the KOI Christmas lesson!

We’re excited to announce a new lesson just in time for Christmas! Laurel Kirchner, the original creator of Kids of Integrity, has written a special lesson to help you teach your children the true meaning of Christmas.

We know it’s a busy time of year, and so this lesson is much shorter than usual; however, we hope it will go a long way toward reinforcing the work you’ve already done with Kids of Integrity while also shining a light on our Saviour this Christmas.

A greeting and Christmas lesson from Laurel:

Kids of Integrity is headed to Uganda!

A few weeks ago, we heard about a church in Edmonton, Alberta, that is taking Kids of Integrity to Uganda! Shirley B., one of the team members from Northgate Baptist Church, shared with us how they came to choose KOI as part of the VBS program they’ll be leading for 400 children in the city of Marare, Uganda.

Getting kids excited about lesson time

We recently received a great question from a Kids of Integrity mom on our Facebook page. She wanted to know if we could offer any suggestions on how to get kids excited about Bible study. (Because, let’s face it, not every kid jumps for joy upon hearing the words “Bible study” or “devotions time.”)

The original creator of Kids of Integrity, Laurel Kirchner, shared the following tips. If you’re struggling to get your kids excited about lesson time, hopefully these will be helpful to you.

The story behind the series

Have you heard the story behind Kids of Integrity? Laurel Kirchner and her husband, Jody, were busy raising their two boys, covering “the basics” with Bible stories, Sunday school and regular prayer. But it seemed like Biblical values weren’t gaining traction in their boys’ lives. Determined to see change, Laurel teamed up with friend Angela Cyr and began developing a set of character-building activities that focused on traits like patience, attentiveness and obedience.

Our families are ready to go!

We’re very excited to introduce you to our two Kids of Integrity families – the Bugg family and Krista's family! These two young families have agreed to take our special Kids of Integrity Challenge this summer. They’re excited to get going, but we've first asked them to share a little bit about their families and their thoughts on the Kids of Integrity Challenge.

Drum roll, please . . .

Are you on Facebook?

So not everyone is on Facebook these days (although it does kind of seem that way, doesn’t it?), but if you are on Facebook, check out our new Kids of Integrity page! Come say hello, or even share with us your own experiences, questions or suggestions. For example, if you try out a lesson and end up figuring out a way to simplify or improve an activity, we’d love to hear about it! Or if your kids were really into one of the crafts, let us know that, too.
