These simple activity ideas will help you create “memorable moments” that reinforce the messages you’ve shared with your children during your Bible story picnics. There’s no need to do all these activities. Choose as few or as many as you like. You can do them in conjunction with your Bible story picnic, or at a different time of the day – whatever suits you best.

"I love you this much" game

Any time

Take turns coming up with descriptive words ending in “er” to explain the magnitude of your love. Discussion point: Jesus’ love for us is so great, He was willing to die on the cross for us. View option

Science with a twist

Order some Glo Germ online and have fun with this educational product that reveals the presence of bacteria on a surface. Discussion point: Sin is like germs. It can hide and be hard for us to detect, but the Holy Spirit shows us our sins. View option

Compare a broken light bulb with a working light bulb. Discussion point: The Holy Spirit helps us “shine” brightly for Jesus, obeying His commands. View option

Plan an egg hunt

Pack some "Easter story eggs" in a picnic basket, then hide them outdoors or around your home. View option

Play jail-bird tag

To illustrate what an encumbrance sin is, have your kids play tag, but outfit each child with a liability of some sort. Discussion point: Sin makes us feel “weighed down” by guilt, shame and worry. View option

Pray a Psalm

Any time

Use this sample prayer based on Psalm 24 as your family’s Easter prayer, or write a family prayer based on any of the Scripture verses in this lesson. View option

Read a beary fun story

Any time

Get a copy of The Berenstain Bears and the Easter Story – a wonderful story to read to your children as a tie-in to this Easter lesson. View option

Talk about tears

Science with a twist

Make a raw egg float in salt water to illustrate how much God cares about our tears and sorrows. Discussion point: Jesus’ death on the cross made Him familiar with our sorrow and pain. View option

The laundry sniff test

Hide dirty laundry, then have your kids try to find it by “sniffing it out.” Discussion point: Just as dirty laundry smells bad, our sin “stinks” to God. We stay clean by regularly confessing our sins. View option
