In a recent post, I mentioned that our boys drafted up a list of family respect rules to hang in a prominent spot in our home. A few of you mentioned an interest in seeing those rules, so here they are. (Keep in mind, these are rules that a 10 and five year old came up with!)
The Bugg Family Respect Rules
1. LOVE EACH OTHER
2. KNOCK BEFORE ENTERING BEDROOMS, BATHROOMS OR OFFICES
3. ASK BEFORE PLAYING WITH OTHER PEOPLE'S THINGS
4. DON'T INTERRUPT WHEN SOMEONE IS ON THE PHONE
5. DON'T INTERRUPT A PERSON DURING A CONVERSATION
6. MAKE SURE TO LISTEN WHEN SOMEONE'S TALKING
7. PICK UP AFTER YOURSELF
8. DON'T SPEAK IN ANGER
9. DON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT THE FOOD SERVED
10. J – O – Y (JESUS – OTHERS – YOURSELF)
11. IF GOD MADE IT, DON'T HURT IT!
12. CLOSE ALL DOORS QUIETLY
13. DON'T MAKE FUN OF OTHER PEOPLE
14. TAKE CARE OF OUR BELONGINGS
15. BE GENTLEMEN, NOT CAVEMEN
16. DON'T BE BOSSY
17. BE THANKFUL FOR WHAT WE HAVE!
A few of you mentioned that your family also has a list of rules or values for your home. Would you be willing to share those with the rest of us? Please feel free to leave a comment here or even on our Facebook wall!
